Tinubu condemns violence in Rivers State, orders police to provide security to LG Secretariats

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has sworn in the newly elected chairpersons of the 23 local government councils in the state. The swearing-in ceremony held on Sunday at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, saw 22 chairmen from the Action Peoples Party (APP) and one from the Action Alliance officially inaugurated into office. River LG elections: APP wins 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats

The Action People’s Party (APP) has won 22 chairmanship positions out of 23 in the just-concluded local government election in Rivers State. The Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, made this known on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the state capital. A former Senate Majority Leader, Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina is dead, aged 70.   Zwingina who represented Adamawa South Senatorial District was also the Director-General of the MKO Abiola campaign Organisation in the June 12, 1993, presidential election. “The advocate of democracy has gone to the great beyond”, a source said.
