Nigeria congratulates Malawi on peaceful inauguration of President Mutharika

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has congratulated the Government and people of the Republic of Malawi on the successful and peaceful inauguration of His Excellency, Peter Mutharika, as the seventh President of Malawi.

In a statement released in Abuja by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria commended the Malawian people for their steadfast commitment to democratic values, described the October 4th inauguration in Blantyre as a significant milestone in the country’s democratic journey.

Nigeria’s government praised the peaceful conduct of the electoral process and the orderly transition of power, noted that it reflected the strength and maturity of Malawi’s democratic institutions.

“Nigeria celebrates with the people of Malawi on this historic occasion and shares in the optimism that this new chapter under President Peter Mutharika will usher in greater unity, prosperity, and sustainable development,” the statement read.

The Federal Government further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Malawi. It expressed a desire to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, agriculture, education, and regional security.

Nigeria’s message of goodwill underscored its continued support for democratic governance across the African continent and its dedication to fostering regional partnerships that promote peace, stability, and economic growth.
