The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, today, hosted troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to a Christmas lunch in Sokoto State, acknowledged their sacrifices and commitment to ensuring the security and unity of Nigeria.
The event provided an opportunity for the CDS to commend the frontline troops for their dedication and professionalism. He highlighted the recent successes, including the dislodgement of Lakurawa terrorist camps in Sokoto and Kebbi States, as evidence of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) determination to address security challenges nationwide.
“We remain steadfast in supporting you with the resources needed to carry out your duties effectively,” General Musa said, urged the troops to continue fostering unity, compassion, and teamwork in their operations.
The CDS also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support of the Armed Forces and to Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his cooperation. As part of the visit, General Musa demonstrated his concern for troop welfare by visiting wounded and sick soldiers of 8 Division, Nigerian Army, at their hospital beds, commended their bravery and sacrifice.
Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of Operation Fasan Yamma, described the CDS’s visit as a morale booster. He noted that General Musa’s frequent visits over the past three months have enhanced his understanding of the operational environment and challenges faced by troops.
“This celebration is more than just a festivity; it is a moment to reflect on our collective sacrifices, achievements, and resolve to ensure peace and security in Nigeria,” Major General Ajose said.
The CDS concluded the event by encouraging the troops to remain vigilant, maintain focus, and continue exemplifying the highest standards of military professionalism.
