The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has debunked viral claims alleging that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is not in use, affirmed that the facility is fully operational and actively training Nigerian youths.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, said the Centre is functioning under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme, designed to equip young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant skills.
Boriowo disclosed that about 300 trainees have been undergoing training at the Centre since November 2025 in leather works, solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, and hospitality. She added that the trainees receive monthly stipends, while the facility continues to benefit from scheduled funding tranches to support seamless programme delivery.
Addressing the circulating misinformation, she revealed that a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills visited the Centre on March 30, 2026, and confirmed that all trainees are actively engaged, with training progressing as scheduled.
The Ministry further noted that industrialist Aliko Dangote has pledged to manage the facility for 20 years and expand its capacity to accommodate more participants.
It urged members of the public to disregard misleading reports and rely on verified official sources, reiterated its commitment to expanding access to quality skills development through modern training centres across the country.
