The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has presented Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Family Welfare Support cheques to the families of 79 fallen police officers as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, made the presentation on Thursday at the Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the families of officers who died in active service.
Sanusi said the gesture underscored the resolve of the Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to prioritise the well-being of serving officers and honour the sacrifices of fallen heroes.
He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the beneficiaries and assured them of the Force’s continued support, stressing that the sacrifices of the deceased officers would never be forgotten.
The event formed a key highlight of this year’s National Police Day commemoration, reflecting ongoing efforts to boost morale within the Force and strengthen institutional care for officers and their families.
The Command also reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the FCT, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
