The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, hope, and prayers as Christians across the country celebrate Easter.
In a message marking the 2026 Easter celebration, Yilwatda described the season as a significant period in the Christian faith, symbolising sacrifice, redemption, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He noted that beyond celebration, Easter offered an opportunity for reflection on values such as resilience, forgiveness, humility, and faith.
The APC chairman urged citizens to draw strength from the message of Easter, emphasising that the lessons of sacrifice and hope remain relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges. According to him, Nigerians must remain steadfast and united in the face of adversity.
He also called on Christians to recommit to righteous living, compassion, and service to humanity, stressing that the country requires individuals who reflect their faith in both public and private conduct.
Yilwatda expressed concern over the prevailing security challenges in parts of the country, sympathising with victims of violence, banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping. He described the losses as a collective national grief and called for greater cooperation among citizens and institutions to restore peace.
He urged Nigerians not to succumb to fear or division but to remain resolute and supportive of efforts aimed at ensuring safety and stability nationwide.
The APC chairman acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, noting that ongoing reforms and strategic interventions demonstrate commitment to national security.
He further emphasised the need for collaboration among government at all levels, security agencies, community leaders, and religious institutions to achieve lasting peace and justice.
Yilwatda also encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter season to pray for the country, its leaders, and security personnel, expressing optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges through unity, responsible leadership, and faith.
He wished Christians a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Easter celebration and urged all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and committed to building a united and prosperous nation.
