The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu, has extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to officers, soldiers and their families, described the celebration as a reminder of sacrifice, discipline and spiritual renewal that align closely with the values of military service.
In a goodwill message marking the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the Army Chief congratulated Muslim personnel for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan, noting that the period reflects virtues such as devotion, self-restraint, compassion and resilience.
He observed that this year’s Ramadan was uniquely significant as it coincided with the Christian Lenten season, a rare convergence he said highlighted the unity and shared moral discipline within the Nigerian Army. According to him, although worship practices differ, both faiths emphasize sacrifice, humility and renewal—values essential to professional military conduct.
The Army Chief also paid tribute to fallen heroes who died in service to the nation, describing them as gallant patriots whose sacrifices continue to inspire the Armed Forces. He further commended troops currently deployed in various operations across the country, praising their courage, endurance and commitment under difficult conditions.
Reassuring personnel of improved welfare, he stressed that troop wellbeing remains central to his leadership philosophy, adding that efforts would continue to enhance living conditions, professional development and family support systems within the Army.
He also acknowledged the contributions of sister services and security agencies, describing inter-agency cooperation as critical to sustaining national peace and operational success.
The Army Chief expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continued support to the Armed Forces, noted that his leadership has strengthened operational effectiveness and institutional development.
He urged personnel to uphold the lessons of Ramadan, including compassion, discipline, humility and gratitude, while reaffirming loyalty to the nation and commitment to its defence.
He concluded by praying for peace, strength and divine protection for all officers, soldiers and their families, wishing them a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
