Abuja Muslim Forum(AMF)has expressed its support for the peaceful protest tagged #ENDSARS that started in various states in the country including Abuja about two (2) weeks ago.
This was contained in a statement signed by the forum Ameer ,Imam Luqman Jamiu Ahmad which was made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
The forum said:
“Peaceful protest is part of fundamental human rights of citizen of the country.
“However, we noticed with dismay that the protest has turn from been peaceful to violence, vandalization, looting and destruction of public and private properties in the last 48 hours across the country.
“The attacks on public and private establishments as well as loss of lives are unfortunate and uncalled for. We therefore condemn in strong term and in totality the babaric acts of looting, attacks on citizens and civil unrest emanating from the protests, that seems to have been hijacked by hoodlums and other forces.
“Similarly, we call on State and more importantly the Federal Government to act swiftly on the demands of the protesters. At the same time, we call on the youth protesting to thread the path of peace and give those in authority to address their griveances.
“Please let us remember that countries like Libya, Syria, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sierra Leone, Liberia, Rwanda etc started this way.
“Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria”
