The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, will lead a high-level panel at the upcoming International Conference of the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN), scheduled for July 23, 2025, in Abuja.
The event, themed “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation,” will convene key stakeholders to deliberate on Nigeria’s strategic foreign policy direction and its response to evolving global security dynamics.
Joining Ambassador Mignot on the distinguished panel are Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, the Chief of Defence Staff, prominent academics, and senior media professionals. Together, they will dissect Nigeria’s 4Ds foreign policy approach Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography and evaluate its impact on national and international peace, security, and diplomacy.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will deliver the keynote address, while Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja will serve as the lead discussant.
The conference aimed to foster dialogue, build strategic partnerships, and provide actionable insights on Nigeria’s role in the global order. It will also offer the European Union and other international partners an opportunity to deepen collaboration with Nigeria in promoting peace, stability, and inclusive development across Africa.
Expected attendees included former Presidents, serving and past governors, federal lawmakers including Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, heads of agencies, over seventy diplomats, academics, and policy stakeholders from across the world.
