FCT Police Commissioner tours University of Abuja, assures improved security

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has conducted an operational tour of security deployments within and around the University of Abuja to assess safety measures and enhance crime prevention.

The tour, which took place on January 29, 2026, was aimed at evaluating existing security arrangements and ensuring adequate preparedness to deter criminal activities within the university environment.

During the exercise, CP Dantawaye inspected officers stationed at strategic locations, including campus perimeters and surrounding hills. He commended the personnel for their dedication and resilience in safeguarding the institution, while urging them to remain vigilant, proactive, and professional in the discharge of their duties.

As part of the visit, the Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi. Both leaders held extensive discussions on the prevailing security situation in the institution and explored ways to strengthen the existing security architecture for the safety of students, staff, and property.

CP Dantawaye reaffirmed the command’s commitment to providing adequate manpower and equipment to ensure prompt response to any security challenges within the university community.

The visit underscored the FCT Police Command’s continued efforts to promote peace and safety in educational institutions and across the territory.
