The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled a car-snatching attempt and recovered three vehicles following a swift response by operatives attached to the Galadima Division.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on December 12, 2025, at about 7:43 p.m., during a routine stop-and-search operation around Efab Bridge when operatives heard a gunshot from a nearby location and immediately moved in to investigate.
She explained that on arrival at the scene, the officers encountered four armed men who opened fire while attempting to escape with two vehicles. The police responded with superior firepower, forcing the suspects to abandon the vehicles and flee the area.
Adeh added that sustained pressure by the operatives led to the recovery of all three vehicles involved in the incident, including the suspects’ operational vehicle, a white-coloured Volkswagen.
Investigations have commenced to identify, track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the swift and proactive response of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to crime prevention and the protection of lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory. He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command emergency numbers.
The police assured residents of sustained efforts to ensure peace and security within the nation’s capital.
