The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reassured Nigerians of the safety and continued accessibility of the Mokwa Bridge in Niger State, affirmed that there will be no disruption in vehicular movement along the critical transport route.
This assurance followed recent concerns over the impact of flooding in the Mokwa area. During a visit to the site on Tuesday, the Director General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated that the Federal Government is actively addressing the situation to prevent any interruption in traffic flow and to maintain road safety for commuters.
“The government is aware of public concerns, and it is taking necessary proactive measures to ensure that transportation along this corridor remains smooth and uninterrupted,” Issa-Onilu said.
He emphasized that all relevant agencies are on the ground to monitor developments and provide timely interventions as needed.
In the wake of the situation, the NOA also warned against panic buying and hoarding of petroleum products, cautioning that such actions could trigger artificial scarcity, disrupt supply chains, and endanger lives and property.
The agency urged Nigerians to continue their daily activities without fear, assured them that transportation to and from major northern cities including Kaduna, Abuja, and Sokoto remained unaffected.
Reiterating the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, NOA called on all stakeholders especially motorists, traders, and transporters to cooperate with authorities and report any issues promptly for swift resolution.
