The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, on Monday matriculated 1,000 undergraduate beneficiaries of the scholarship programme initiated by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CFR, FCNA.
The colourful ceremony, held at the university campus in Dutsin-Ma, attracted dignitaries including the Managing Director of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Professor Abdullahi Shehu Maaji; Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah; and Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Hajiya Yardada Maikano Bichi, among others.
The initiative, driven through the Barau Ibrahim Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), reflects Senator Barau’s commitment to expanding access to quality education for young Nigerians. Over the years, thousands of students have benefited from his scholarships at home and abroad, with 70 currently pursuing postgraduate studies overseas.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Senator Barau expressed appreciation to the management of FUDMA, led by Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Aminu Ado, for partnering with his office to ensure the success of the programme.
In recognition of his contributions to education and youth development, the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS), FUDMA Chapter, presented Senator Barau with an award of excellence.
