Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to prioritize the training and retraining of public servants as part of his administration’s efforts to ensure efficient and transparent service delivery in the state.
The Governor made this commitment during the swearing-in ceremony of three new Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday at the Government House in Benin City.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the importance of a professional and proactive civil service to achieving the administration’s goals.
“Edo people voted for us to provide good governance, and public service delivery will be central to that agenda. Gone are the days when anything goes in public service. My administration will not tolerate indolence or a lackadaisical approach to work. We are building a team of civil servants who will be effective and transparent in their duties,” the Governor declared.
He added that his administration would invest in continuous training programs for public servants to enhance their capacity to deliver on the administration’s vision for a better Edo State.
The Governor also charged the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries to bring their expertise to bear in their roles, ensuring significant progress in the coming year.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, Mrs. Stella Eshieshie expressed gratitude to the Governor for the confidence reposed in them. She pledged that they would work diligently to implement the administration’s policies and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
The swearing-in ceremony reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening the civil service as a critical engine for good governance in Edo State.
