As Christians around the world celebrate Christmas, the Governor of Edo State, Dr. Felix Okpebholo, has urged believers to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, including love, peace, and sacrifice.
In a message delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor congratulated Christians in Edo State and beyond on witnessing another yuletide season. He encouraged them to use the period for sober reflection and spiritual renewal while fostering harmonious coexistence with adherents of other faiths.
“We must extend the hands of love and fellowship to our neighbors and live as one big family, irrespective of social, political, or religious differences.
“Let us continue to trust God for a brighter tomorrow, a more prosperous Edo State, and a greater Nigeria.”Okpebholo stated.
The Governor emphasized that societal issues such as communal clashes, armed robbery, kidnapping, and terrorism could be mitigated if Christians fully embodied Christ’s teachings of love and unity. He also urged all citizens to prioritize their shared identity as Nigerians over religious, political, or cultural affiliations.
Highlighting his administration’s commitment, Governor Okpebholo reassured residents that the government is working tirelessly to improve lives and make Edo State a home of peace and prosperity.
“Whether in business, politics, or religion, we must show love and respect for one another. As a government, we remain dedicated to putting smiles on the faces of all Edo residents,” he added.
The Governor concluded his message with a heartfelt Christmas greeting, wished all residents a joyful celebration.
