Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has mourned the demise of the former Director-General/Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency, Prof Seidu Onailo Mohammed who passed away on Monday 8 August 2022 at the age of 62.
Governor Bello in a condolence message on Tuesday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu described the passing of a professor of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System, Onailo as a colossal loss not only to Nigeria but to the global Space Sciences at large.
He noted that Prof Mohammed not only distinguished himself as a Geo-Science scholar but committed scientist whose tremendous contributions have led to the implementation of the Space Programme in Nigeria noting that under his astute leadership as the DG, NARSDA, Nigerian three Satellites were launched.
Governor Bello stated that Prof Mohammed as a Fellow and board member of the International Academy of Astronautics, was a major player in global Space Research and Development whose enormous contributions cannot be erased in a hurry.
While condoling the families, management and staff of the National Space Research and Development Agency, friends and associates of the late distinguished Space Scientist, Governor Bello prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
The Governor also prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest while admonishing the family to take solace in the exemplary and selfless life the deceased had lived.
