The prominent media figure, Haruna Abdullahi, known as Haruspice, has been appointed as the spokesperson of the Abuja Chapter of Nigeria’s largest university alumni association, the Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association.
In his role as the Public Relations Officer of the Chapter, this versatile communication strategist will serve as the Chapter’s image-maker and coordinate all media and communication activities for the Association at that level.
Haruspice, a prolific writer and seasoned journalist, is celebrated for his ability to blend creative imagination with hard-hitting facts in his writing and communication interventions. His appointment as the spokesperson of this esteemed association is expected to elevate its information and communication arm to new heights.
In addition to Haruspice’s appointment, Mr. Ayabanji Ojo has assumed the role of Chairman for the association, leading a dedicated team of alumni members. This dynamic leadership is poised to unite all graduates of Ahmadu Bello University residing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria’s capital city.
Other elected members of the Executive Council for the Chapter are: Asabe Mustapha (Vice-Chairman), Fatima Yusuf Secretary General, Ambassador Onoja (Assistant Secretary General), Juliana Hamnadoon (Treasurer) Isa Nuhu Financial Secretary), Mendos Ali Ahmed (Welfare Secretary), Barr. Usman Yakubu (Legal Adviser), Raymond Oche Ocheni (Social Secretary) and Ndace Samuel Gana (Auditor)
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Banji outlined a visionary roadmap to revitalize the association. He emphasized that the first task of the administration will be an aggressive membership drive through strategic campaigns and programs aimed at bringing all stakeholders together as one big family. This, according to him, will foster collaboration and mutual support for Ahmadu Bello University and its members.
The administration will also launch an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise N5,000,000.00 from members and friends to support the activities and initiatives of the Chapter.
The Chapter, in accordance with the Constitution, will establish all the necessary statutory committees. Two committees crucial to the realization of the ambitious Chapter goals are the Membership and Welfare Committee and the Finance Committee.
It is important to note that all programs and campaigns of the Association cannot be effectively executed without strategic communication. Therefore, the newly elected Chairman has also devised plans to integrate and deploy social media and other information technologies in the execution of its programs.
Dr. Nathan Oguche Emmanuel, a dedicated member of the Chapter, expressed his confidence in the capacity of the elected officials, saying, “with Haruspice handling the communications and Banji Ojo’s visionary leadership, the Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association, Abuja Chapter, is set to embark on an exciting journey of growth, innovation, and unity. FCT is a strategic location, and the Chapter, I believe, will be the one to reckon with.”
