The House of Representatives Committee on Pensions has commended the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) for its progress in pension administration during an oversight visit to the Directorate’s Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Led by Chairman, Hon. Jallo Hussaini Mohammed, the Committee reviewed PTAD’s operations, including its 2024 budget performance and implementation for the first half of 2025.
PTAD Executive Secretary, Mrs. Tolulope Odunaiya, outlined key milestones such as the implementation of the 20/28 percent pension increment effective January 2024, its integration into the September 2024 payroll, and full settlement of accrued arrears. She also highlighted ongoing arrears payments from the N32,000, 10.66 percent, and 12.95 percent increments made possible through prudent fund management.
Odunaiya disclosed that Presidential approval had been secured for pension-related provisions in the 2026 budget, including funding for the N32,000 increment, settlement of unfunded liabilities, harmonization of pensions, and health insurance coverage for Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) pensioners.
While acknowledging challenges confronting PTAD, she reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare and lauded the National Assembly’s oversight role.
In his remarks, Hon. Jallo Hussaini Mohammed praised PTAD for its efforts in strengthening pension payments and assured that the Committee would continue to support initiatives that protect the welfare of DBS pensioners.
