The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosions currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, as part of ongoing efforts to respond to the tragic incidents in Maiduguri.
During the visit, the IGP also proceeded to the scene of the explosion at the Maiduguri Monday Market for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
In continuation of his engagements, the police chief paid visits to the Borno State Government House and the Borno State Police Command Headquarters, where he held strategic meetings aimed at reviewing current security measures and strengthening coordinated response efforts.
The IGP commiserated with victims and families affected by the attacks, describing the incidents as tragic and deeply regrettable. He reassured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to tracking down and dismantling all criminal networks responsible for the explosions.
He further disclosed that security across Maiduguri and surrounding areas has been significantly reinforced, with increased personnel deployment, enhanced surveillance, and intensified joint operations to prevent any recurrence and ensure the safety of lives and property.
The visit underscored the police leadership’s resolve to maintain peace and restore public confidence in the wake of the attacks.
