IGP Disu, NOA DG Strengthen Partnership on National Values, Crisis Prevention

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to promote national values, responsible citizenship, and enhance crisis prevention across the country.

The commitment was made on Thursday when the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the meeting, Issa-Onilu reiterated the Agency’s dedication to promoting national values, civic responsibility, and public enlightenment as critical pillars for national development. He highlighted the Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter as flagship initiatives designed to foster unity, patriotism, and social cohesion among Nigerians.

The NOA Director-General also proposed deeper collaboration between the Agency and the Nigeria Police Force in public sensitisation, intelligence sharing, and early conflict prevention, noting that strategic partnerships are essential to addressing emerging security challenges and strengthening public trust.

Responding, IGP Disu stressed the importance of professionalism, ethical policing, and respect for human dignity in enhancing public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He also urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to embrace responsible use of social media by verifying information before sharing it, warning that the spread of unverified content could fuel misinformation and undermine national security.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the Force’s readiness to work closely with the National Orientation Agency in advancing national security, promoting responsible citizenship, and entrenching values that support peace, unity, and sustainable national development.

The visit further underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to leveraging public enlightenment and strategic collaboration as tools for preventing conflicts and fostering a more secure and united Nigeria.
