The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to the Republic of Benin as the West African neighbour mark its Independence Anniversary.
In a congratulatory message conveyed by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria commended Benin for its democratic resilience, regional cooperation, and longstanding friendship with Nigeria.
The message, addressed to Benin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, underscored the deep historical, cultural, and economic ties shared by both nations, described the Republic of Benin as a “valued partner” and “close neighbour” with whom Nigeria shares mutual aspirations for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Benin and working collaboratively through the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to promote regional development and integration.
“Nigeria remains committed to strengthening bilateral relations with Benin and working together within the framework of ECOWAS to advance the welfare of our people,” the statement noted.
He further praised Benin’s contribution to regional peace and its commitment to good governance, expressed optimism that the partnership between both countries would continue to deepen for the benefit of the West African subregion.
