A public commentator , Abubakar Yusuf has said the Launch of Integrated National Financing Framework INFF by President Muhammadu Buhari in New York will further solidify the progress already recorded by SDGs leadership in Nigeria under Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire on its 17 Goals.
Abubakar Yusuf said its 17 Goals, targets and 230 key performance indicators along with the “Decade of Action” spanned between 2020-2030.
He said the serialization of programs that had guaranteed sustainable development with SDGs in Nigeria, was encouraging by the current leadership in the last six years.
The public commentator recalled the rendering of stewardship by the SSA -SDGs to Nigeria’s President with the strategic implementation of the Conditional Grant Scheme CGS and interventions in 16 states and FCT in the area of Education, Health, Empowerment and Water/ Sanitation had changed the lives of Nigerians positively.
He mentioned recently the efforts in Nigeria by SDGs, as the first African country to launch the realignment of the National Statistical System NSS in collaboration with National Board of Statistics NBS in December, 2021 and by extension will assist Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the articulation of projects, the country will also be able to track the progress of 230 performance indicators of SDGs in Nigeria annually, along with domestication of SDGs model in the country in 2019.
He therefore lauded the Presidential Adviser for championing a good cause as the recent launch of independent evaluation reports of SDGs Goal 3, 4, the first of it’s kind geared towards assessing the progress of Health and Education in the context of Nigeria, at the banquet hall of the Presidential villa, saying it was a good omen.
He maintained that all these achievements was also different from series of interventions and synergy to ensure project execution from the National Assembly members, direct interventions before and after the health emergency of COVID, Goals 8, 10, CSO’s, Private Sector Advisory Group PSAG among others to ensure social protection and security.
Abubakar Yusuf described the launch as a major milestone by SDGs in Nigeria that will accelerate development inline with Nigeria’s National Development plan 2021-2025.
Yusuf said the vote of confidence by the international communities, UNDP, EU, CSO’s and other private partners on the successful launch by Nigeria’s President was an indicator of the determination of SDGs In Nigeria towards achieving it’s 2020-2030 target.
