New Year: Wase calls for prayers, support for FG

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, has extended warm greetings to all Nigerians as they celebrate the New Year.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, Wase appealed to Nigerians to pray for the continued peaceful coexistence and progress of the nation in the year 2020, and beyond.

He said the nation needs to begin the year with prayers and supplications for the sustenance of the achievements made in the out gone year and for the obvious good things expected in the New Year.

“I hereby wish every Nigerian a peaceful and prosperous New Year and urge everyone of us to thank God for allowing us to see the year 2020 and for the achievements recorded in 2019, in spite of different challenges.

“I call on all of us to continue to offer prayers for our nation and our leaders; and to be hopeful that the year 2020 will usher in improved standard of living and put smiles on our faces”

Wase also enjoined Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and support the federal government to deliver on her promises, believing that with unity of purpose, the nation will overcome its current security and socioeconomic challenges.

According to the Deputy Speaker, “Nigerians are in safe hands under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari; but what we have to do is to support the government and eschew divisive tendencies that are inimical to the growth of the nation.

“I believe that if we support and cooperate with the government, we would be creating an enabling environment for the implementation of the laudable policies and relentless efforts being made to transform Nigeria.

“I therefore, wish each and everyone of us good health, peace, joy and prosperity in the year 2020. As we begin a new decade, may Nigeria experience peace, tranquility and uncommon development in all spheres of her life.”
