The Federal Ministry of Interior has honoured a number of its retired officers in recognition of their years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Federal Government, describing them as key contributors to the institution’s growth and stability.
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, gave the commendation during a send-forth ceremony held in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Minister praised the retirees for their commitment, professionalism and sacrifices over the years, noted that their contributions strengthened the Ministry’s operations and institutional framework. He described the retirees as pillars of excellence whose legacies would continue to inspire serving officers.
According to him, retirement from active service does not signal the end of national impact, stressing that the Ministry would continue to benefit from the retirees’ wealth of experience and institutional knowledge whenever necessary. He also encouraged them to remain ambassadors of integrity and professionalism in society.
On behalf of the nation’s leadership, the Minister expressed appreciation to the retirees for mentoring younger personnel and serving as custodians of institutional memory, while wishing them good health, peace and fulfilment in retirement.
Earlier, the Director of Human Resource Management, Catherine N. Zosi, commended the retirees for maintaining unblemished service records and contributing significantly to national development, noting that their example would continue to motivate staff within the Ministry.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from colleagues and retirees, as well as the presentation of commendation certificates and gifts in honour of the departing officers.
The event formed part of the Ministry’s efforts to recognise outstanding public service and celebrate excellence within the federal civil service.
