Global Women Ambassadors Canada, an international organization with members around the world will launch what it calls “JAPA RAIT – Migrate the Proper Way” Series on Monday, April 22, 2024, via Zoom.
This series is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by immigrants from Africa to other parts of the world, particularly Canada, which will be the pilot country at this virtual meeting. The group says Canada is particularly important as a country to be discussed because the trend of migration to Western countries has shown that the country is the preferred choice of Africans.
As a result, the country, with a relatively small population but with a huge landmass is currently experiencing an influx of immigrants thereby contributing to the surge in homelessness, joblessness, rising inflation, strain on healthcare services, and even deaths of migrants in some cases.
“Global Women Ambassadors Canada has therefore decided to go to the source of the problems by being solution-focused. We have discovered that many of the African migrants come to Canada without adequate information and preparation due to lack of proper documentation, legal and social barriers that have exacerbated hunger, homelessness, isolation, high rate of divorce and even death,” Kemi Amusan, the president of the group said.
The series will feature powerful and very knowledgeable speakers on migration and also policymakers such as Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa, the Chairman/CEO, of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mr. Femi Odere – Senior Legislative Aide (Stakeholders’ Engagement & Mobilization) to the Senate President; Professor Dr. Hughes Waka, Chicago JJK Agribusiness & Taylor Business School; Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar, National President of Network of Civil Society Organization against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL); Johnson Babalola Esq. Group Managing Partner, TopMarke Immigration Services, Canada; Mr. Prosper Michael, President, Global Anti Human trafficking Organization (GAHTO); Mrs. Josephine Etaluku, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACT) in charge of Irregular Migration/Anti-smuggling of Migrants and Child Labour Secrion of Nigeria Immigration Office, Edo State Command; Mr. Daniel Atokolo, Retired Director of Investigation and Monitoring Department, (NAPTIP) and Wakawaka Doctor, a medical doctor and immigration expert.
Ms. Amusan said that with the “JAPA RAIT” series, the organization aims to connect individuals with support networks to navigate the migration and integration processes safely and successfully.
The series will also present alternatives to migration such as opportunities in international agribusiness and farming. By highlighting these alternatives, Global Women Ambassadors Canada seeks to provide individuals with viable pathways to prosperity within their own countries.
“Migration is as old as humankind, it is not wrong to migrate but it is disastrous to migrate without the right information and strategies to migrate and integrate without falling victim to exploitation or misinformation,” Kemi Amusan, aka Lady Kay said.
