National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator , Mr. Okun Christopher, and his Driver, Mr Daniel Effiong Asibong, are missing.
NYSC in a release signed Director Press and Public Relations department, Eddy Megwa, said they were abducted between Delta and Akwa Ibom States while traveling for an official assignment on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Megwa added that since their abduction, all efforts to locate their whereabout have yielded no results.
He said the scheme was in touch with their families in the bid to get any information about their whereabouts.
Megwa pleaded with anyone who has useful information on their whereabouts to reach out to the scheme.
The vehicle they were commuting with was a white official Hilux with registration number “27D31FG”.
“Anyone with useful information regarding their whereabouts should contact any of the 37 NYSC state secretariats, area offices, and the national directorate headquarters in Abuja or the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt action,” he said.
Okun assumed duty as the 19th State Coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom in April 2024.
Okun was transferred from the NYSC Area Office, Asaba in Delta State, and took over from Chinyere Ekwe who has been redeployed to the NYSC Area Office in Minna, Niger after the expiration of her tenure.
Before his new appointment, Okun was the Deputy Director (Operations), South-South Area Office, Asaba in Delta.
Okun is a graduate of the former Bendel State University, now Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma in Edo, where he graduated with a B.A (Hons) History in 1987.
