In a remarkable achievement, the Kaduna Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a 98.79% increase in revenue generation from January to November 2024. The Command successfully collected ₦28,404,099,930.73, marking a significant leap from the ₦14,288,006,824.04 generated during the same period in 2023.
This surge in revenue is highlighted by the Command’s unprecedented performance in November 2024, when it exceeded ₦4 billion in a single month, the first time in its history.
Ridwan Yusuf, Public Relations Officer, Kaduna Area Command in a release said the revenue came from three primary sources:
Import Duty: ₦14,147,496,714.00
Excise Duty: ₦6,257,546,641.13
Fees and Others: ₦7,999,056,575.06
The achievement is attributed to the effective management of key facilities under the Command’s jurisdiction, including excise factories such as Leaf Tobacco & Commodity Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Breweries Plc (Kakuri and Kudenda), and Seven-Up Bottling Company, as well as the Inland Dry Port in Kakuri, Kaduna.
Comptroller Tijjani Abe credited the success to strategic initiatives introduced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team. He also commended the collaboration of security agencies such as the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigerian Police Force, and Department of State Services (DSS), whose support was instrumental in the Command’s success.
Meanwhile the Area Command has expressed its commitment to maintaining this momentum, strengthening its revenue collection capabilities, and ensuring a business-friendly environment to further enhance trade within its jurisdiction.
