Customs NPRO Maiwada makes 2025 PR Power List, earns National Recognition for Communication Excellence

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has once again been recognized for its outstanding approach to public communication, as its National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, was named among Nigeria’s top 50 PR and communications professionals in the 2025 PR Power List.

The prestigious list, jointly published by GLG Communications and The Guardian newspaper on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, celebrates individuals who are redefining the communications landscape across Nigeria and the diaspora.

AC Maiwada was honoured in the Changemakers category reserved for professionals who challenge conventions, introduce innovative practices, and deliver measurable impact in their communication strategies.

Reacting to the honour, Maiwada expressed gratitude and emphasized that the recognition reflects the collective efforts within the NCS under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

“This recognition is deeply humbling. It speaks to the commitment of the Service to modernise public engagement, enhance transparency, and build trust through effective storytelling and timely dissemination of accurate information,” he stated.

“While I am honoured to be listed, I believe the greater credit goes to the team I work with and the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General, whose reforms have empowered us to think differently, act boldly, and represent the Service with dignity and professionalism.”

The 2025 PR Power List features four categories – Rising Voices, Community Impact, Changemakers, and Fourth Estate—highlighting key contributors across different spheres of the communications industry. The recognition was signed by Oreani Ogbe, Managing Partner of GLG Communications.

The selection board commended professionals like Maiwada for “shaping the future of public relations through bold moves, long-term experience, and impact-driven communication.”

This recognition underscored the increasing credibility and relevance of the Nigeria Customs Service in the realm of public engagement, driven by transparency, innovation, and consistent professionalism.
