Today October 08, 2021 Dr. Sunday Aikuirawo ANIYI, the only child of his late parents was elected as the OBALEO of Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba LGA of Ekiti State.
Dr. Aniyi holds a doctorate degree in Communication Arts with specialization in International Communication and Media Studies. His other academic interest includes political and policy communication. He previously, was a journalist and publisher before moving to the academics. He was a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti before moving to Elizade University where he taught Mass Communication.
In 2019, he was first appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Projects and later appointed as the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.
As the Principal Private Secretary, he is in charge of intellectual engagement, correspondence management and coordination of the Governor’s meetings. He also serves on several policy committees of Ekiti State Government. He is the coordinator of Ekiti Values Education Project of the government where he midwifed the development of a unique curriculum for the teaching of Ekiti Values Education in the State.
Earlier before joining the administration, he had served in the Visitation Panel of Enquiry to the College of Health Science and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti. He was also the secretary of the Culture and Tourism Sub-Committee of the policy think-tank that produced the policy document of the administration of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the governor of Ondo State.
Dr. Aniyi was not only born in nobility, he exudes it in its finest form. A very reliable, just, loyal, forgiving, hardworking, respectful, broadminded, intelligent, intellectual, analytical and unassuming gentleman. In private life and in government, he has used every opportunity to serve his community altruistically. His love for Erinmope-Ekiti which he has used his privileged positions to assist in several ways is well appreciated. It is no surprise that many look towards him when the Obaleo Elejio Ora Ufe became vacant. Although, many other candidates sought the position but the overwhelming majority of the people of Erinmope-Ekiti home and abroad were united in calling on him to come back home to serve them as their king.
Their voices were heard by the ancestors on August 19, 2021 as Ifa oracle picked him as the best among the best contestants.
Today, October 08, 2021 the Kingmakers were unanimous in affirming and confirming his nomination by the Iworo-Aro Ruling House who had earlier nominated him as their preferred candidate.
For us in Erinmope, this is the beginning of a new era. Dr. Sunday Aikuirawo ANIYI, represents a new vision, positive energy, innovation, knowledge, creativity, sound-mind, respect, network, mobility and selfless service.
Institution of Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti
has its provenance traced to the Lajamisan of Ile-Ife and is of Ejio Dynasty and that is why the constituted market of Erinmope-Ekiti is called Ejio market. As an institution, Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti is one of the most ancient monarchs in Ekiti State and one of the most foremost First Class Traditional Rulers in the State. In the old Moba Confederacy which extended to the current Ekiti Kwara LGA and Oke Ero LGA, Erinmope was the second most important town after Otun-Ekiti; it also remains the security headquarters of the Confederacy’s security system even till today.
It was in Erinmope that the last column of the Ilorin Fulani Jihadist led by Adamu fell in 1899.
With his election by the kingmakers today, it is a new dawn in our ancient city. It is a return to the ancient glory, splendor, valor and honour.
