The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a historic milestone by generating ₦71.63 billion in revenue for the year 2024, significantly surpassing its target of ₦56.86 billion. This achievement marks a 20% increase over the set target and is the highest revenue ever recorded by the command.
Comptroller Effiong John Harrison, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), disclosed these figures during a meeting with his management team. He expressed pride in the command’s unprecedented performance, highlighted that July 2024 was particularly outstanding, with a record monthly revenue of ₦12.08 billion.
Comparing the command’s performance to the previous year, Comptroller Harrison noted a substantial increase from the ₦30.5 billion generated in 2023, representing a 135% growth. He credited this success to the dedication and high standards upheld by the officers and men of the command.
“The commitment and hard work of our officers have been instrumental in achieving this milestone,” Harrison stated.
He further encouraged the personnel to sustain their efforts to ensure even greater revenue generation in 2025.
The CAC also extended his gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,for his unwavering support, and acknowledged the crucial roles played by stakeholders and other government agencies in the command’s success.
