The richness of the African Culture was on full display as the Students of Senior Course 11 of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College Gwagwalada hosted the college community to an exhibition which was made possible through the African Study Tour initiative.
The event which was graced by the Commandant of the NCCSC, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Kingsley Egwuh, the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies Comptroller of Customs Oluyomi Abolaji Adebakin, Chief Instructors , Members of Directing and Administrative Staff was organized on Wednesday 27 November 2024.
The focus of the Africa Study Tour was centered on Promoting Trade Facilitation in Africa through Strategic Partnership in Customs Administration. Fifty Senior Course students were divided into 4 groups and proceeded on the tour to 4 African countries: Egypt, Ethiopia, Cote D’Ivoire and the Republic of Benin from the 28th of October to the 2nd of November 2024. The aim of the tour was to acquaint the students with the knowledge of how other African countries effectively conduct their customs operations as well as enhancing their experiences while strengthening regional cooperation and integration.
The African Study Tour exhibition featured historical background of the host countries, their respective leaders, the origin of some distinct tribes in the countries as well as the curation of artefacts, pictures, national symbols, dresses, currencies, food and souvenirs.
The Commandant, ACG Kingsley Egwuh expressed satisfaction at the conclusion of the event. He was delighted with the display and presentations from the students who took their time to discuss some important socio-economic and cultural elements of the host countries.
The Commandant affirmed that the NCCSC remained committed to ensuring that it continually builds and develops the ability and capacity of Officers and Men in the Service. The Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies Comptroller of Customs Oluyomi Abolaji Adebakin equally thanked the teams for a well packaged presentation.
