The newly deployed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maitumbi Divisional Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Aliyu Ahmed Kuta, has pledged to wage an uncompromising war against criminality while calling on residents and stakeholders to support the police in ensuring a safer community.
Speaking during an interactive meeting with community leaders, youth representatives and other critical stakeholders at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Maitumbi, SP Kuta stressed that effective policing can only be achieved through collaboration between the police and the public.
He noted that Maitumbi, being a densely populated suburb of Minna, the Niger State capital, has continued to witness an influx of people from different parts of the country, making vigilance and intelligence sharing essential in maintaining security.
The DPO urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and activities within their neighbourhoods, assuring them that the command under his leadership would not compromise in protecting lives and property.
He expressed confidence that with the cooperation of traditional leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders, Maitumbi would continue to enjoy improved peace and security.
SP Kuta also issued a strong warning to criminals operating within Maitumbi and its environs, declaring that the area would no longer be safe for anyone involved in criminal activities.
“Let me sound this warning to criminally minded individuals to relocate to safer places. I will make Maitumbi uninhabitable for them. My men and I are fully prepared to go after anyone who threatens the peace of this community. There will be no hiding place for criminals,” he said.
The police officer equally appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards to prevent them from engaging in acts capable of breaching public peace.
He warned that anyone found involved in criminal activities, regardless of age, would be made to face the full weight of the law.
Addressing youths in the community, SP Kuta encouraged them to embrace productive ventures and avoid social vices, describing them as the future leaders of society who must not allow crime to destroy their prospects.
He further assured residents that his administration would be guided by professionalism, fairness and commitment to public service.
The DPO commended the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman, for finding him worthy of the appointment, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service and improved security in Maitumbi.
SP Aliyu Ahmed Kuta has served the Niger State Police Command in several capacities. Before his deployment to Maitumbi, he headed the Commissioner’s Monitoring Team and also served briefly in the newly established Anti-Violent Crime Response Unit (AVCRU) of the command.
