Niger State Government on Monday rolled out a week long low keyed ceremony for the second term swearing in of the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello and his deputy, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmed Ketso.
The Chairman of the 2019 Inauguration Ceremony Committee who is also the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Mikail Al-Amin Bmitosahi disclosed this to newsmen at a pre-inauguration press briefing at the Government House in Minna, the state capital.
The chairman said that “an Iftar/dinner”is slated for Tuesday, May 28th, while the oath taking ceremony by the governor and his deputy will hold on Wednesday at Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center, Minna.
A Jumat prayer session is organised for Friday while an interdenominational church service to commit the second term of Governor Sani-Bello to the hands of the Almighty will hold on Sunday in churches across the state.
The Chairman said though government decision to have a low-key ceremony had earlier been announced by the Secretary to the State Government at the weekend, he added that government action was a show of solidarity to states ravaged by insecurity in the country . According to Hon Bmitosahi, “due to the present security situation in some parts of the country, the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello has opted for a low level event to mark this occasion . However, this will also save the state of managing it’s scare funds in the face of limited resources”.
The Inauguration Committee Chairman assured Nigerlites of Governor Sani Bello’s commitment and resolve to move the state to the next level of development, hence the inauguration of the committee on Projects, Policies and Programmes Appraisal to prepare grounds for the success of his second term in office.
He maintained that the findings and recommendations of the committee would provide a clear direction of the state and its people to the next level.
“The Projects, Policies and Programmes Appraisal Committee is to identify government policies and its implementation status. It is also to compile all the projects executed in the last four years with a view to appraising the performance of the administration in the period under review.
“The committee is required to propose and recommend any further project /activity, review the states’ existing tax base with a view to expanding its Internally Generated Revenue to include the informal sector, as well as propose legacy projects achievable within the next four years stating feasible funding options among others.
“The committee shall also to review and redesign the governance structure to reflect consolidated portfolio system that eliminates duplication and ineffective use of scarce state resources”.
Hon. Bmitosahi then assured the people of the state, that the administration “is determined to make great impact on all aspects of development in the next term in office”.
