The Niger State Police Command has arrested ten suspects for various offences including thuggery, robbery, and theft in Minna and Kontagora, recovered weapons, cannabis, and other illicit substances.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the arrests followed a series of coordinated raids and intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing crime across the state.
According to him, on October 23, 2025, police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Kontagora, conducted a sting operation in the Tudun-Wada area, where three suspects — Abdullahi Abdullahi (22), Fahad Abubakar (19), and Nasiru Aliyu (28) were arrested with a large quantity of suspected cannabis, two knives, and a pair of military trousers.
Similarly, between October 21 and 23, operatives of the Central Police Station, Minna, raided several black spots including Angwan-Sarki, Kuta Road, Sabon-Gari, Ogbomosho, Baida, and Makera, leading to the arrest of seven suspects found with cannabis, shisha pots, and other illicit substances. The suspects were subsequently charged to court on October 24, 2025.
In another operation, police officers from Maje Division intercepted two robbery suspects — Aliyu Salihu (25) and Jibrin Ndako (22) who had robbed a student in Bida of his motorcycle, mobile phones, and ₦40,000. They were arrested at Tungan-Shanu, while fleeing to Kogi State.
Also, one Saidu Aliyu of Kpakungu area, Minna, was arrested along the Chanchaga–Paiko Road with a stolen motorcycle, while three others — Abdulkarim Nawah, Nafiu Mohammed, and Abdulrazak Aminu were nabbed in Bosso for housebreaking and theft of farm produce and mobile phones.
SP Abiodun reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against thuggery, robbery, and related crimes in the state, urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police.
“We will continue to sustain our operations to rid the state of all forms of criminal activity,” he assured.
