In a significant breakthrough, the Niger State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers allegedly plotting to burgle a provision store in Minna. The arrest occurred on January 4, 2025, around 6 pm, following credible intelligence received by the Tudun-Wada Division.
The suspects, identified as Jibrin Ndako (19) of Barikin-Sale, Haruna Abubakar (20) of Angwan-Kamfani, and Aliyu Abdullahi (18) of Kpakungu, Minna, were arrested at a hotel along the Eastern Bye-Pass, Minna. They were found in possession of three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter.
During interrogation, Jibrin Ndako, who recently completed a jail term for motorcycle theft, confessed to recruiting his accomplices from Agaie to join him in the planned robbery. The suspects are now in custody at the State Police Headquarters, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.
In another development, a suspect linked to the murder of a motorcyclist in Bosso was arrested along with two receivers. On January 2, 2025, the lifeless body of Abdulrahman Isah, 20, was discovered along Pyata-Maitumbi Bye-Pass. Investigations led to the arrest of Abubakar Sadiq, who confessed to luring the victim to a secluded area before killing him and stealing his motorcycle. The stolen motorcycle was sold for ₦310,000 to Bala Usman of Wushishi, with the amount recovered from the receivers.
Furthermore, the police arrested Aminu Amale, 45, for an attempted extortion involving a threat to kidnap a farmer in Kakuza Village unless he paid ₦9.5 million. Amale confessed, claiming financial challenges motivated his actions.
Lastly, in Katcha, Fatima Dzuma, 27, was arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Baba Aliyu, 25, during a domestic dispute on December 31, 2024. Dzuma confessed to using a pestle to strike her husband, later disposing of his body in a nearby bush. She is currently in police custody awaiting further investigation.
