A team of Police detective attached to Rijau Division ,Niger state Police command has arrested two suspects namely: Lawali Shehu aged 22yrs and Lawali Sani aged 23yrs both ‘m’ of Fulani camp, Tashan Dorowa Zamfarawa village in Rijau LGA.
The arrest of the suspect followed the receipt of information from one Bashir Ibrahim ‘m’ of Mariri village Rijau LGA on 27/04/2020 at about 2030hrs.
Bashir reported that on the same date at about 2000hrs, while he was going to Rijau with his Daylong motorcycle, on reaching a point along Rijau road, two persons surfaced from a nearby bush, attacked and beat him with stick, injured him on the head, and robbed him of his motorcycle and techno handset ,then fled to unknown destination. Police operatives swung to action and arrested the suspects.
During investigation, the said motorcycle and the Tecno phone were recovered in their possession.
The Suspects confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER:
On 29/04/2020 at about 1420hrs, based on reliable information that suspected kidnapper(s) wrote a letter threatening one Alh. Bako Sani ‘m’ of Inana village, Rijau LGA to drop a sum of five Million naira (N 5,000,000.00k) as ransom or risk being kidnap, after negotiation the kidnappers agreed to accept a sum of fifty thousand naira (N 50,000.00k). On receipt of the information, a team of Police and Vigilante Joint patrol swung into action and arrested one Basiru Musa Nayeya aged 27yrs ‘m’ of the same address while in an attempt to pick the said money at a specific point.
During Police interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, while further investigation into the matter revealed that the suspect is an ex-convict, that sometime in the year 2016, was apprehended and prosecuted for theft of motorcycle in the same area and served two years jail term. Case will soon be charged to court.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT: On 02/5/2020 at about 0600hrs, information received that on the same date at about 0135hrs, armed robbers numbering about seven (7) invaded Boyi Community in Gurara LGA robbing residents of their valuables and shot one Ayuba Ibrahim aged 19yrs ‘m’ of Boyi village to death, robbed one Prophet Samuel Omojuni Kandi ‘m’ 45yrs of his Samsung and Tecno A7 handsets valued N61,000, ATM card and a sum of N34,000 cash. On receipt of the information, Police Detectives attached to Gawu-Babangida Division swung into action and arrested one of the robbers by name Habibu Suleiman aged 23yrs ‘m’ of Dawaki town hall area Suleja. The suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned other six (6) of his accomplices at large from Tafa and Kubwa FCT Abuja area. Effort still on top gear to arrest other fleeing suspects.
However,the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Usman appreciated the Public spirited effort in sharing relevant information with the Police and other Security Agencies; he further reassured the Command’s determination in curtailing Banditry/Kidnapping in the State and urged Nigerlites and residents not to panic but to always volunteer information to the Police.
