The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Senegal on the occasion of the country’s Independence Anniversary.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria described Senegal’s Independence Anniversary as a historic milestone that symbolises the triumph of self-determination and the resilience of its people in sustaining democratic governance, stability, and national development.
The statement noted that Senegal has, over the years, distinguished itself as a model of political maturity and constructive engagement within Africa, while also playing a vital role in promoting regional peace, democratic consolidation, and economic cooperation across West Africa.
Nigeria further acknowledged the strong and enduring partnership between both countries, highlighting ongoing collaboration in key sectors such as trade, culture, education, and security. It also emphasized their shared commitment within regional and global platforms, including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the United Nations.
Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, the Federal Government expressed readiness to expand areas of cooperation and deepen people-to-people ties with Senegal in pursuit of shared prosperity and continental progress.
Nigeria also conveyed its best wishes to the Government and people of Senegal for continued peace, unity, and advancement.
