The Federal Government has felicitated with the Republic of India on its Independence Day anniversary, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of partnership.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended warm felicitations to India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the people of India.
Ambassador Tuggar described the occasion as a reminder of the determination, sacrifice, and vision of the Indian people in shaping their destiny as a sovereign nation. He noted that both Nigeria and India share core values of democracy, respect for sovereignty, and commitment to international peace.
The statement recalled that over the decades, Nigeria and India have enjoyed vibrant trade relations, educational cooperation, defence partnerships, and cultural exchanges, while also working together within the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, and the G77 to advance global stability and sustainable development.
Nigeria, the statement added, look forward to deepening these historic bonds and addressing shared global priorities in collaboration with India.
