The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has raided a notorious criminal hideout in Apapa, Lagos State, leading to the recovery of illicit drugs and other prohibited substances.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, was carried out at a location known as Gidan Drama in the Agbo Malu area, following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug traffickers.

During the coordinated raid, naval personnel successfully dislodged criminal elements from the hideout and recovered quantities of cannabis sativa, codeine, and other banned substances.
The raid underscored the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment to combating criminality within its areas of operation, particularly in the fight against illegal drug trafficking and substance abuse.
In line with inter-agency collaboration, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Rear Admiral Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, represented by the Executive Officer, Navy Captain Idongesit Udoessien, formally handed over the seized substances to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The handover took place on Monday, February 2, 2026, with the items received by the Assistant Commander of Narcotics, Mr. Azu Charles, of the NDLEA Festac Area Command.
The Navy reaffirmed its resolve to sustain joint operations with relevant security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and curb the spread of illicit drugs across the country.
The command also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance effective crime prevention and national security.
