The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been honoured with the Outstanding Performance in Public Service Award at the African Iconic Women Recognition Awards 2025.
In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the award was described as a testament to Dr. Coker-Odusote’s exceptional leadership and dedication to transforming Nigeria’s digital identity landscape. The organizers of the award also commended her innovative and transformational leadership style, which has positioned NIMC as a major force in Africa’s identity management sector.
Under her visionary leadership, NIMC has achieved significant milestones, including a sharp increase in National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment, the establishment of a secure and reliable identity database, and the implementation of a 25% to 35% salary increase for staff. Other accomplishments include improved staff welfare, enhanced human capacity development, data harmonization, and effective collaboration with government agencies utilizing NIN.
Dr. Coker-Odusote’s five-point agenda, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Mandate, has been central to NIMC’s transformation, triggering a new era in Nigeria’s identity management journey.
The Commission also urged Nigerians to leverage NIN Authentication (NINAuth) for secure and seamless verification. NINAuth is a cutting-edge solution that enabled individuals to protect their data from unauthorized access, control how and when it is shared, and interact efficiently with government and service providers.
“NINAuth is more than a tool it is a safeguard for digital identity, ensuring data protection and streamlining service delivery,” Dr. Adegoke emphasized.
The Commission congratulated Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote on this well-deserved recognition and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing digital identity services for all Nigerians.
