The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced the launch of its flagship annual Public Relations, Reputation, Ideas, Concepts and Excellence (PRICE) Awards and Prizes, designed to celebrate innovation, creativity, and excellence in public relations practice across Nigeria.
The maiden edition of the PRICE Awards is slated for Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
In a statement signed by Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the NIPR Annual PRICE Awards and Prizes, the Institute said the initiative represented a new benchmark for recognizing outstanding campaigns, individuals, and organizations shaping Nigeria’s communication and reputation management landscape.
The development of the PRICE Awards culminated in September 2025 when Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, inaugurated a 12-member Organising Committee following the Council’s adoption of a technical report proposing the awards system.
While inaugurating the committee, Dr. Neliaku said the members were carefully chosen for their proven track record and international achievements.
“Some of you have done us proud on the global stage, winning major awards and flying Nigeria’s flag high. We now challenge you to create a world-class public relations awards system for our country,” he stated.
He urged the committee to engage stakeholders, sponsors, and partners to deliver an event that would stand as a model for excellence.
Dr. Neliaku expressed optimism that the PRICE Awards would motivate practitioners, scholars, and organizations, while also enhancing Nigeria’s global competitiveness in the communication ecosystem.
Israel Jaiye Opayemi, Managing Director and Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa, was named Chairman of the Organising Committee. Accepting the role, Opayemi pledged to deliver a best-in-class award administration and ceremony.
“We have been winning awards abroad; it’s time to honour our own heroes at home, before our people,” he said.
Other members of the committee included Dr. Mary Ikoku, Edemekong Uyoh, Adesola Oyawoye, Odoh Diego Okenyodo, Damilola Olujide, Beatrice Okpara, Prince M.G. Duku, Chief Patrick Ukah, Mrs. Chidinma Awak (Secretary), and Kater Amos Foga (Assistant Secretary).
The PRICE Awards will honour excellence across diverse sectors of public relations and communications, spotlighting strategic thinking, creativity, innovation, and measurable impact. It will also recognize emerging talents including students and young professionals through cash prizes and plaques, reflecting NIPR’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of communication leaders.
Founded in 1963 and chartered in 1990, NIPR remains Nigeria’s foremost professional body for communication management and public relations practice. The Institute regulates professional standards, promotes responsible communication, and partners globally to strengthen Nigeria’s reputation.
The NIPR is also preparing to host the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 and the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Annual Conference, both scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, in Abuja.
