NISEng Chairman, Chinese Representative visit NASRDA to bolster Space Technology collaboration

The National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISEng), Engr. Kayode Babalola, and the Chief Representative of the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), Mr. Peiyong Ao, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju, on Friday, January 24, 2025.

 

The visit focused on strengthening the longstanding collaboration between Nigeria and China in space science and technology, which has spanned over two decades. Key discussions revolved around resolving outstanding issues in the partnership and exploring strategies to elevate the collaboration to new heights. Dr. Adepoju lauded China’s instrumental role in Nigeria’s journey toward becoming a space-faring nation and emphasized the need for sustained cooperation to advance the country’s space agenda.

 

The meeting also highlighted the upcoming investiture ceremony of Engr. Babalola as the National Chairman of NISEng, scheduled to take place on February 13, 2025, at the NigComSat Limited auditorium. Dr. Adepoju extended his best wishes to the incoming Chairman, expressed confidence in his ability to lead the institution to greater achievements.

 

The visit further provided an opportunity to discuss the planned international industrial tour to China by members of NISEng, facilitated by CGWIC. The tour aimed to provide Nigerian engineers with firsthand exposure to China’s cutting-edge space technology and insights into the operations of key agencies within the Chinese space ecosystem. This initiative is expected to foster knowledge transfer and capacity building, further enhancing the expertise of Nigerian space engineers.
