The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has celebrated the appointment of Barrister Stella Din Jacob as the new Executive Director, News, of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), describing it as a historic breakthrough for women in journalism.
In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ FCT hailed the appointment as a proud moment for the media industry, noting that Din Jacob is the first female to hold the prestigious position in NTA’s history.
The Council lauded her as an accomplished broadcaster with decades of excellence, who has groomed and mentored many professionals across the industry. It particularly recalled that the NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, worked under Din Jacob’s tutelage at Silverbird Group a testament to her impact as a mentor and leader.
“Barr. Stella Din Jacob’s appointment is well-deserved and reflects her unmatched professionalism, dedication, and transformative leadership in journalism,” the statement said.
The Union also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a clear commitment to inclusive leadership with the appointment.
Highlighting her impressive record at major media houses including Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News, the Council said Din Jacob consistently demonstrated excellence in managing large newsrooms and ensuring credible, balanced, and impactful news coverage.
The NUJ FCT expressed confidence that her leadership would usher in greater innovation at NTA, strengthen national broadcasting, and inspire women and young journalists across Nigeria.
The Council assured her of its full support and wished her success in her new role.
