The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, HRM Oba Dr. Mahood Olalekan Balogun, on July 31st, 2023 conferred the title of Mogaji Aikulola-Aibinuomo family upon Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, along with five others.
The grand investiture took place at the Olubadan Palace, Itutaliba, Ibadan, and was graced by esteemed members of the Olubadan-in-Council and dignitaries from across the nation.
In his address, HRM Oba Dr. Mahood Olalekan Balogun urged the newly appointed Mogajis to discharge their duties with utmost dedication to their extended families and the larger Ibadan community. They were also reminded to uphold the honor and integrity of their communities, avoiding actions that may bring embarrassment to Ibadan as a whole.
The title of Mogaji represented the headship of a large family and hold significant importance in Olubadan Chieftaincy Matters. It marked the first step in the hierarchy, with Mogajis serving as family heads, responsible for maintaining order and harmony within their clans. The appointment as Mogaji is an essential milestone in the journey towards potentially becoming an Olubadan, and it requires substantial effort and competence to advance through the ranks. Presently, there are over 2,500 Mogajis in Ibadan, each contributing to the welfare and cohesion of their respective families and the larger community.
