Something happened recently, Ordinary Ahmad Isah was in the eyes of the storm following a moment of unrestrained reflex. The reactions that followed, came in mixed emotions – with some standing for him and others calling for his head. The people, however, that were arms ready to slit his throat were some of his colleagues in the media. They were gyrating and gloating in vengeance, to them, this is the end of Ahmad Isah, the man that plays god, that plays the authority and has taken over the airwaves! Rueben Abati and his team, used almost an hour butchering Ahmad Isah on Arise TV. They went as far as speculating that Ahmad got huge grant from an NGO. You will dare to ask, ‘what has grant got to do with the issue on ground’?. Of course, the intent is clear, to rubbish the man.
One thing they fail to grasp is that Ahmad Isah is like the calabash in water, the more you try to suppress him, the more he bounces back more stoic. Now, one of the journalists who were at the forefront of the media onslaught against Ahmad Isah is on the run for his safety, according to him, people from different population have been bombarding him with threat calls. According to him, they are angry at him for putting their ordinary president under needless attacks.
Now, this is what happens when you make the issue of other people your headache. Out of malice, you jumped at denigrating Ahmad Isah that is doing everything to help humanity, instead of doing your own, you make his life your preoccupation. You have touched him and the people of the streets whom he represents at your matter and you are now crying for help. Your help can only come when you go to the Ordinary President and beg him to talk to his millions citizens to drop your matter. The day you malign their president, you incur the wrath of the streets. Ahmad Isah is seen and venerated as god in the minds of the plenty Nigerians he has helped to live, to be cured of their illness, to be protected from oppression, to be empowered, to be sheltered, to be honoured in dignity. Ahmad Isah is not your everyday journalist, he is a phenomenal ‘prophet’ using the media to salvage the world of her iniquities.
