The House of Representatives has ordered the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to extend to ten weeks the timeframe given to telecommunications operators to update sim registration records with valid National Identification Number (NIN).
The resolution was reached during Wednesday plenary, following a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Ndudi Elumelu (PDP).
Recall that the NCC had given telecommunications operators (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9Mobile and other network providers) two weeks ultimatum, until the 30th December 2020 to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN).
