The President of the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), Hajiya Dr. Nafisa Shehu Mohammed, has expressed deep sympathy with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the tragic loss of six of its members in a recent road traffic crash.
In a statement signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Olusegun Ogungbemide, today Dr. Nafisa also commiserated with the families of two other victims who lost their lives in the accident involving renowned international sports icon, Anthony Joshua.
She commended personnel of the FRSC for their swift, professional and courageous response at the crash scene, particularly in the prompt rescue of Anthony Joshua and the effective management of the incident.
According to her, the rapid deployment and efficient rescue operations carried out by FRSC officers demonstrated a high level of preparedness, discipline and commitment to saving lives.
Dr. Nafisa noted that the overwhelming positive reactions from members of the public, both locally and internationally, clearly reflect public confidence in the professionalism, responsiveness and life-saving capacity of the FRSC.
She explained that the conduct of the officers at the scene ensured proper traffic control, prevented further danger to other road users and facilitated timely medical attention where required.
The ROSOWA President emphasised that the sacrifices made by FRSC personnel are equally borne by their families, assuring officers and their loved ones of the association’s continued support.
She also urged motorists to always obey traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, stressing that responsible driving remains critical to preventing avoidable road crashes.
While condoling with the NUJ and the bereaved families, Dr. Nafisa wished Anthony Joshua a speedy recovery.
