The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Area Command has officially welcomed Comptroller Benedict Oramalugo, as its new Customs Area Controller, following the retirement of his predecessor. The handing-over ceremony took place on 11 February 2025 at the ECOWAS Complex of the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post (JBP), with journalists in attendance.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Oramalugo expressed deep appreciation for the officers of the Command, commending them for their continued dedication and service. He assured officers, stakeholders, and the border community of his commitment to consolidating on the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeawale Adeniyi.
Oramalugo emphasized his readiness to support the seamless execution of the Service’s mandate and to maintain an open-door policy for all officers, encouraging them to further enhance their capacities.
During the ceremony, Deputy Comptroller Enforcement, DC Istifanus D. Musa, who had been overseeing the Command following the retirement of the former Area Controller, welcomed Oramalugo and pledged the full support of the Command’s officers.
Prior to his new role, Comptroller Oramalugo served as the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, where his tenure was marked by significant successes in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Strategic Community Engagement for the Year and Outstanding Controller of the Year 2024 at the CGCs Award.
Comptroller Oramalugo expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs and the Management team for the opportunity to serve in various leadership capacities.
The Seme Area Command, located at the strategic Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, plays a vital role in managing Nigeria’s border activities, ensuring smooth trade facilitation while combatting smuggling and other trans-border crimes.
