Senator Ndubueze lists Federal University, 53MW Power Substation among key development milestones in Imo North

The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Patrick Ndubueze Chiwuba, has reaffirmed his commitment to sustainable development and people-focused representation, highlighting the attraction of major federal projects to the constituency as part of his legislative achievements.

Speaking during activities marking his birthday celebration, the lawmaker announced the establishment of the Federal University of Okigwe, secured under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He described the institution as a significant milestone that will broaden access to quality higher education, promote human capital development, and stimulate socio-economic growth within the district and beyond. According to him, the project reflects effective collaboration between the National Assembly and the Federal Government in advancing inclusive national development.

Ndubueze also disclosed that a 53-megawatt power substation located in the district has attained approximately 80 percent completion. He noted that the project is expected to substantially improve electricity supply, enhance commercial activities, and improve living standards for residents upon completion.

The senator observed that communities within the district had endured persistent electricity shortages for nearly two decades, stressing that the ongoing power infrastructure project represents a major turning point in the area’s development trajectory. He expressed optimism that the substation would be commissioned before the end of the year.

Highlighting his performance in office, Ndubueze stated that the projects were facilitated within his first three years in the Senate, underscoring his resolve to prioritise initiatives with direct and measurable impact on constituents. He also acknowledged the support of the Federal Government, particularly President Tinubu, for backing development initiatives aimed at balanced national growth.

He added that arrangements are underway for the formal commissioning of the projects, with dates to be announced in collaboration with relevant authorities.

The senator reaffirmed his commitment to attracting further federal investments to Imo North, assuring constituents of continued responsive, accountable, and development-driven representation.
