The Transformative Governance Forum (TGF) has joined millions of Nigerians and the global Tijaniyya community in mourning the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the nation.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the Director of Strategic Engagements and Partnerships of TGF, Ademola Rabiu, said the revered cleric lived a life defined by deep scholarship, compassion, and an exceptional commitment to peace and unity in Nigeria.
According to the Forum, Sheikh Bauchi was more than a cleric; he was “a towering moral force whose teachings elevated the human spirit and bridged divides across faiths and regions.” His decades-long influence in promoting tolerance, knowledge and service to humanity, the statement noted, shaped generations and strengthened Nigeria’s moral fabric.
TGF also highlighted Sheikh Bauchi’s notable contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly his open support for the presidential aspiration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT).
“At a defining moment in Nigeria’s political journey, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi demonstrated uncommon patriotism and moral courage. His endorsement of PBAT reflected his commitment to unity, stability, and responsible leadership,” the statement read.
The group described him as a “beacon of stability whose voice consistently guided the country toward peace and cohesion.”
While condoling the family of the late scholar, his followers, and the Nigerian government, TGF urged citizens to honour his memory by upholding the principles he championed unity, tolerance, and proactive citizenship.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi has completed his earthly journey, but his light continues to guide us,” the Forum said, prayed for Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
